質問

ある映画についての文章なのですが…
「しかし監督は八百屋の男という他者性を象徴する登場人物を生み出し、彼女が彼を助けないという事故シーンを描くことで、彼女は成長できていないことを表現しているのではないだろうか。
しかしこの映画は、バイクに二人乗りをしているカナとユミの、満面の笑顔を捉えたシーンで終わる。
この清々しいシーンから、監督は2人の今後の成長を期待しているのではないかと思った。」
The director has created a character that symbolizes the other personality of men who sell vegetables, and it expression that she couldn't grow up describe to not help to him.
However this film ends with a scene that capturing the full smile of Kana and Yumi who are riding on the bike.
I think the director expected to be grow of two girls after that from this refreshing scene.

・特にきになる点は「八百屋の男」をどう表現するのかです。
他にも英文を作ってて、「ん？これでいいのかな？」と思うところは多々あるのですが…。

八百屋と言うのがアメリカだとgroccery storeとかになってしまうので、日本の八百屋の男と言おうとしたら、a vegetable seller man とかですかね。どう言ってもピタッとハマりそうなものが思い浮かびません。ちなみに、「ん？これでいいのかな？」と思ったら、googleなどで検索して、「画像」で見てみると良いですよ。

⇒ The director created a vegetable seller man as a character representing others' personality. By not helping him when he is in accident, I think the director depicted that the girl hasn't grown mature yet.
他人性を others' personality としてしまいましたが、造語なのでこう言うのも危険ですね。やはり何か専門用語があるのですかね。

⇒ The film ends at a scene of the two girls, Kana and Yumi, riding on the bike together with full smile on their faces.
bikeは英語では自転車ですが大丈夫ですよね。

⇒the director expected to be だと、監督自身が～になろうと期待したことになります。
I think the director used this pleasant scene as the ending to express his expectation for the two girls to grow.

最後は、映画を知らないのでニュアンスは自信なしです。

I wonder, to bring out her immaturity, if the director did not created the grocery man, whom she did not rescue.

The film ends with the two happily smiling faces of Kana and Yumi riding tandem on a motorcycle.

From this refreshing scene I thought the director was expressing his hope for their great future.
