2)「ほかしかたがない」or「他仕方はない」
あと他に
3)「よりしょうがない」or「仕様がない」
I tried to tell the delicate difference, hope it helps.
1)is common way of expressing “No other way” especially in speaking.
2)is also common but slightly formal way for both writing and speaking.
3)is also common but with slightly irresponsible [or, slapdash][or, giving up without last effort] feeling inside.

I agree with you. Both 1 & 2 would work. In my opinion, both sentenses mean the same thing.

Thanks for your quick reply. English or Japanese are both ok for me, as long as you can tell the difference.....
but you definitely didn't tell the difference.....you know answer could only be 1...... :(
