英語の冠詞と前置詞についての質問です

質問

「私は大学と大学院で日本語学を勉強しました。」を各翻訳ソフトに掛けると色々出て来て、どれが正しい英語なのか分かりません。殊に冠詞と前置詞で異同が有ります。次のような次第です。
@nifty翻訳　I studied the Japanese study in the university and the graduate school.
Bing 翻訳　I studied in college and graduate school of Japan studies.
Google翻訳　I studied the Japanese science at the university and graduate school.
So-net　I studied science of Japanese in a university and a graduate school.
フレッシュアイ翻訳　I studied Japanese study at the university and the graduate school.
Yahoo!翻訳 I studied science of Japanese in a university and a graduate school.

また大学と大学院で前置詞が異なる訳文もあるので、「私は大学で日本語を勉強しました。私は大学院で日本語を勉強しました。」で新たに翻訳を掛けました。結果は以下の通りです。

Bing 翻訳　I studied at the University of Japan language. I did study Japan language in graduate school.

ここでは同じソフトなのに「university」と「graduate school」で前置詞が異なるものがほとんとです。しかしそれなら先の「大学と大学院で」の訳においても、それぞれに（graduate schoolの前にも）前置詞を付ける必要が有るのではないかと思いますが、そうなっていません。

私が教えていただきたいのは次の3点です。
1.自己紹介でいきなり（前に大学や大学院の話が出ていない状況で）「私は大学と大学院で日本語学を勉強しました。」とした場合は「university」でも「the university」でもなく「a university」でしょうか。
2.「university」と「graduate school」の前置詞は同じでしょうか。異なるのでしょうか。異なる場合はその理由。
3.最終的に「私は大学と大学院で日本語学を勉強しました。」の正しい英訳は何でしょうか。

私の1の質問＜自己紹介でいきなり（前に大学や大学院の話が出ていない状況で）「私は大学と大学院で日本語学を勉強しました。」とした場合は 「university」でも「the university」でもなく「a university」でしょうか。
→大学名を伏せるという意味合いを持たせる場合、a university/a collegeです。単に大学（レベル）の勉強をしたということなら、無冠詞です。つまり、aも無冠詞もあり得ます。

＞に対し「そうです。」と有りますが、3の＜最終的に「私は大学と大学院で日本語学を勉強しました。」の正しい英訳は 何でしょうか。＞に対するお答えが「I've studied Japanese language at college and graduate school.
inもあり得る。」となっています。「at a college and a graduate school」となっていないのはなぜでしょうか。
→上記の説明のごとくで、どちらもあり得ます。

なお、アメリカの場合、collegeは大学院を持たない大学、universityは大学を持った大学と区別されます。

良くお調べになりましたね。また、私のスペルミスに関しては失礼いたしました。伊達に"proofreading"と名乗っているわけではないのですね！

さて、一つだけお返ししたいコメントがあります。

質問者様は最後に「ネイティブの感覚や意見を知りたいところです。」と述べておられます。しかしネイティブの中で、college/university の前置詞が in なのか at なのか、そのようなことに関心を持つ人は恐らくほんのごく僅かだと思います。何故なら彼らは文法に則って英語を身につけているわけではないからです。日々の生活、コミュニケーションをとる中で自然と英語が身についていく彼らにとって、文法は後付けなわけです。他方、英語を母国語としない日本人の場合は、文法から英語に入らざるを得ない．．．。つまり英語を感覚で養う代わりに、理屈で克服しなければならないのだと思います。それ故に日本人が学ぶ英文法の構造は、ネイティブが到底太刀打ちできない程に、厳格化・緻密化されているのです。

ですから私は質問者様が提示した、この興味深い考察結果をネイティブがどう感じるかというよりはむしろ、（日本の）英文法学者がどう捉えるかに興味があります。

おっしゃっていることはよく分かります（私は長年日本人の学生に国語学を教え、留学生などの外国人に日本語を教えて来ました）。私が「ネイティブの感覚や意見を知りたいところです。」と書いたのは「この興味深い考察結果をネイティブがどう感じるか」ではなく、どの文が自然（に感じる）かをネイティブに教えてもらいたい、もし意見が有るなら聞いて見たい（ネイティブでの英語学者などもいるだろうから）と思ったのです（考察結果に対してではありません）。

せっかく＃１さんが "in university and graduate school" と "at universitu and graduate school" の使用例を紹介してくださっているので、私は数は少ないですが "at university and in graduate schoole" の使用例を紹介することにします。

私はgoogle検索等による文献の引用がある程度参考になるということは確かに認めますが、それをもって文体の適切性を判断することには元々無理があると考えます。

また、どれ程厳格で緻密化された文法をもってしても、人間の書く文章の正誤をそれら規則によって、紋切り型に決めつけることはできない、というのが私の考えです。文章は芸術なのです。

1. 「university」 とするのが"一般的"だと思いますが。私は大学で自然科学を学びましたが、大体皆、"I read/studied Natural Scences at university." と言います。
