as smooth rather than asの部分の構造が分かりません。as~asとrather thanが同時に出て来ている形ということでしょうか。訳としては「～と同等もしくはそれ以上に滑らか・・・」でいいのでしょうか？

解説お願いいたします。

英語の構造としては
see O as A rather than as B
O を B としてというより，むしろ A としてみなす・見る

通常 see O as A とくると「みなす」なのですが，ここでは文字通り「見る」でしょうか。

普通の「～として」でなく，regard/see/look on/think of A as B という場合は
as C のように補語的に用いられるので形容詞がくることも可能です。

ただ，並列性としてはちょっと苦しい気もします。

静止画像の連続というよりも，スムーズに，映画の中の動きを見るのを可能にする・見せる

smooth に名詞の用法がないでもありません。
smoothness と名詞形にして統一をとっても，並列としては余計に苦しい気がします。

結局，形容詞 smooth で，
smooth という形容詞的なものと
a sequence of ～「～の連続」という名詞的なものを
比べてるんでしょうね。

smooth という形容詞一語で簡潔に表現している。
ただ，やはりしっくりこないような

単独なかたちでas smooth rather than asは、文法的に成立たないと思う。ならば、省略があるのであろうと推測すれば・・・

「smooth」と「a sequence of ...」を「as」と切り離すから違和感を感じるのではないでしょうか。

　「B rather than A」の中の「B」と「A」の部分に置かれるものは、正確に言えば「同じ働きをするもの」です。

　お尋ねの英文では「as (being) smooth」と「as (being) a sequence of ...」という句で考えることになりますので問題が生じることはありません。

　下記の英文では「同じ語」さえ用いられていません。

　'Outward" is related to physical reality rather than with thoughts or the mind.

　The pacific temper seeks to settle disputes on grounds of justice rather than by force.

　She's a rich woman in her own right rather than by inheritance.

　The conviction that people should participate in sports as a hobby rather than for money.

　Those people usually create mentally and abstractly rather than with one's hand.

as smooth
で簡潔に表しているって言ってるじゃないですか。

being を補うのは勝手ですが，
as 補語として形容詞でいい，それだけのことです。

far from 形容詞も far from being 形容詞も同じ。
別に形容詞でいい。

こちら以上に being ない方が普通です。
まあ，どうでもいいことですわ。
思い出したかのように適当に割り込まんでほしい。

言い忘れていました。
regard A as B を超代表（と私はいつも勝手に思って説明しますが）として
see A as B などの as は普通には「～として」的な「と」と説明されますが，
「～のように」としてもそれほど違いはありません。

無理やり日本語でいうと，「～と同じ」という「と」も「ように」と同じようなもの。
だから，この as が「～と」なのか「～のように」なのかは区別できないものかもしれません。

ただ，普通には接続詞の as ではないので，「～として」なんでしょうか。
この補語的な as C にしても，as SV という接続詞構造で S is が省略されたもの，
と考えれば結局同じかもしれません。

映画の映像，動画というのはアニメーションや昔の８ミリフィルムのように
本当は静止画の連続にすぎないのに
（今のビデオカメラの仕組みはよくわかりませんが，３次元のものを２次元にする以上，
８ミリと同じということでいいんでしょうか）
なめらかにつながったもののように見える。

いいたいのはこういうことでしょう。
とにかく，英語の構造として
see O as A があります。
下で「見る」とも考えましたが，やはり「みなす・思う」でいいと思います。

錯覚というのは「目」をだましているのか，実際には結局脳をだましているのか，
ちょっとわかりませんが，英語としては see O as A は基本，「みなす・思う」です。

as the one linked smoothly without a gap というのを
as smooth と簡潔に表したのでしょう。
a smooth movie ってちょっと違いますね。
