Finally Free and Movie Time!

このQ&Aのポイント
  • I finally finished my final exams yesterday, so I can finally have some free time. To celebrate, I went to watch a movie called [Movie Title]. It was really interesting, but the 3D effects made my eyes tired.
  • As you mentioned, in Japan, there is a custom of going to temples and shrines and buying amulets during the New Year. Not all Japanese people do this, but my father buys a traffic safety amulet every year at [Temple Name]. He always keeps it in his car, but I don't know if it actually works.
  • Please translate the above sentences from Japanese to English. I'm especially struggling with how to translate the second sentence.

わたしの訳は、かなりカジュアルです。 話しの相手は友達だという想定で書いたので使用にはご注意を^^。失礼にあたる表現は使っていませんが。。。 (1) I took my last final exam yesterday. I am so glad that it's finally over with. I am free at last! After the exam, I went to see "xxx" to treat myself for the hard work. It was a good movie, but the 3D thing that they recently came up with is hurting my eyes! (2) You are right. It is a Japanese tradition to buy OMAMORI (lucky charms) on new year's day when we visit temples and shrines. Although not everyone does... I personally rarely get one for myself, but my father usually gets one (the kind that protects you from traffic accidents) every year at xxx Temple. He keeps them in his car. I'm not sure if they work though.

<訳例> (1) Yesterday the term-end exams ended at last. I am relieved because this enables me to take some free time finally. So I went to see a movie titled ○○○ (title of the movie) for a change after the exams were over. Though it was exciting, I think that one of the weak points in 3D movies is that they make our eyes tired. (2) As you say, it is true that there is a custom of buying good-luck charms in Japan when we go to temples and Shinto shrines during the New Year period. However not all Japanese do so. I rarely buy good-luck charms but my father buys a good-luck charm for traffic safety at ○○○ (name of the temple) around New Year's day. He always keeps it in his car, but I do not know whether it is effective or not.
