ただ単に、ほかにやる人がいなかったので私がその仕事をやったのです。

彼はその列車事故でもう少しで命を落とすところでした。

彼女は昨晩夜遅くまで勉強していたので今朝は未だ起きません。

風は未だ強く吹いていて止む気配はありません。

※定型の過去進行形にしましたが、時を表す言葉がこの文にはありませんので、文脈によっては過去形が自然な場合もあります。

It is so cold this winter (too) that it is likely to snow.
※今年「も」は無視しました。どうしても必要なら加えてください。

I did the work simply because no other persons would do it

He was almost killed in the train accident.
