Understanding Japanese Particles

このQ&Aのポイント
  • Japanese particles, such as 'の' and 'が', can be difficult to understand for non-native speakers.
  • In the sentence 'スクリーンの歌詞が早く変わってしまうからです', the particle 'の' is used to indicate possession, while 'が' is used to mark the subject of the sentence.
  • The correct use of particles depends on the context and the function they serve in the sentence.

1. One difficulty might be because some treat 「は」「が」and 「の」 on the same level. I think 「が」 and 「の」 are case marking particles, such as subject or nominative case for "ga" and, possessive or genitive case for "no". 「は」 on the other hand, is not a case marking but a particle that can co-occur with case particles, indicating the main theme of the sentence, "contrast", and a few others, which your reference books must touch somewhere in the 30 some pages. The co-occurrence is visible when they occur side by side without deletion, for example, これは家にはありません This is not in the house (ni + ha) 客は中国からは来ます Guests come from China (kara + ha) フーラフープは家に中では使わないでください Don't use hoolahoops in the house (de + ha). However, there s a rule which deletes "ga" when it is used with "ha". There is no ga + ha combination. Coming back to your question, the theme marking 「は」 does occur in the main clause, in this case 私は(note the correct use of は)カラオケにいくのが好きだけど英語の歌しか歌わない, but not in the (reason giving) subordinate clause, in this case スクリーンが歌詞が早く変わってしまうからです。 2. The use of "de" instead of "no" is less noticeable. I think it borders on a matter of personal taste rather than an out and out mistake.

SPS700さんいつも英語で答えをありがとうございます。あなたはたくさん助けてくれましたね。 本当にありがとうを言いたいです。(make sense? I'm appreciate you very much) I totally understand your answers below however unfortunately particles are still tough for me. I am at mid-imtermediate level so ..... Well, sorry to stick you around, but could you please translate your following english into Japanaese? Because I want to know how to say it in Japanese. Of course I won't be able to understand perfectly though. この↓↓文章だけ日本語に(?)してもらえませんか?宜しくお願いします。 Coming back to your question, the theme marking 「は」 does occur in the main clause, in this case 私は(note the correct use of は)カラオケにいくのが好きだけど英語の歌しか歌わない, but not in the (reason giving) subordinate clause, in this case スクリーンが歌詞が早く変わってしまうからです。 2. A short answer to your excellent question. >>As for No2, are you saying it not a big deal to use で instead of の and seems like its someone's ( your ) prefernce? It is "understandable" and there is no ambiguity or room for misunderstanding, to me that is enough. Some have narrower tolerance, chacun à son goût.

Sorry abvout my sorry English. Coming back to your question, the theme marking 「は」 does occur in the main clause, in this case 私は(note the correct use of は)カラオケにいくのが好きだけど英語の歌しか歌わない, but not in the (reason giving) subordinate clause, in this case スクリーンが歌詞が早く変わってしまうからです。 ご質問ですが、主題を表す「は」は、「私は(この「は」は正しく使われています)カラオケにいくのが好きだけど英語の歌しか歌わない」のような主節では、使えますが.「スクリーンが歌詞が早く変わってしまうからです」のような(理由を表す)従属節では使えません。 2. The use of "de" instead of "no" is less noticeable. I think it borders on a matter of personal taste rather than an out and out mistake. ここで、「の」の代わりに「で」を使うのはそれほど気になりません。明らかな誤用というよりは、好みの問題に近いと言えます。

Thank you so much. You are awesome and as well as your english skill. As for No2, are you saying it not a big deal to use で instead of の and seems like its someone's ( your ) prefernce? Yeah, we have our OWN speaking/writing style which you are like nor which you don't use. So ppl tend to make " beautifcation correction " which you are correcting someone. 間違っていないけど自分のスタイルになおすことはあまりよくないですね? でも多くの友達は スクリーンで歌詞は isn't correct and it's not their prefence... So now I am confused again...man Japanese is tough. Thanks anyway for your help and I thank you from bottom of my heart.
