英語のお手紙

質問

1月に出産致しまして、昨年オーストラリアの友達の家に行った際にお会いした会社の方から
出産おめでとうのカードを頂きました。

育児に手一杯なのと英語が出来ないので先延ばしにしてましたら、今回の大地震。
会社の方がとても心配してると、友人からのメールで知りました。

当方は都内在住で乳児の摂取基準以上の放射能が水道から出たことも知ってました。
海外では本当に大々的に原発事故の事を報道しているようです。

前置きが長くなりましたが
カードのお礼と返事が遅くなった事のお詫び。
息子は順調に大きく(大きすぎる位)育ってる事。
息子がとても可愛くて夫婦で世話を頑張ってる事。
日本は大変な時ではあるが今の所、東京は大丈夫で家族3人元気である事。
息子が大きくなったら、オーストラリアに是非連れて行きたい。
その時を楽しみにしてる。

以上の事を盛り込んだお手紙を書きたいです。
目上の方ですが、とても気さくな人なので友達に送るような感じで宜しくお願い致します。

Dear XXXXX

Thank you for the greeting card you sent me on my child-bearing back in January.
I am truly sorry for this late reply, more so because I kept you in a worry after the big earthquake that hit Japan on March 11.

First, let me tell you that my newly born son, my husband and myself are all safe.
My son (we named him YYYYYY) is growing by the day, perhaps a little too fast! The baby is the apple of our eyes and my husband and I are enjoying every minute of taking his care.

Although Japan is facing a hard time right now, Tokyo was only slightly affected by the earthquake and the nuclear power plant accident. As I mentioned, all of us three are fine.

We would like to visit Australia again when my son becomes a little older. I am looking forward to that day very much.

Thank you once again for your hospitality in Australia and for your concern regarding the earthquake.

I look forward to seeing you again in not so distant a future.

1. YYYYYYのところにはお子さんの名前を入れてあげて下さい。
2. "(The baby is) the apple of our eyes" とは「目に入れても痛くないほど可愛い存在」です。

I appreciate your card, then again I apologize my too late reply.
I would like to tell you something about our newborn.
He is very well and growing favorably up and looks too big.
We are happy to take care for him every day.
Then again, as he is very cute, we are trying to raise our infant.
It’s our greatest fun now.
I’m afraid that you are worrying about the earthquake and Tsunami.
We are facing the difficult problems such as the nuclear plant explosion, a lot of people suffered damages from the quake.
Lots of rescue teams including persons from foreign countries
are working hard all day and night.
Tokyo we live in is OＫ， then again we are all fine.
After he will come to a youth, I would like to take him with me to you in Australia
I look forwards to seeing you.

Thank you very much for the card. I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. Our baby boy is so cute and developing so fast (a little too fast, I might add). My husband and I are doing our best to take care of our son. Japan is in turmoil right now, but all three of us are doing fine in Tokyo. We'd like to take our son to Australia with us when he grows up. We're looking forward to that day.
