直接話してみるのは、やはり違う

質問

「メールで話すのと、直接話してみるのは、やはり違うなと思った。」

上記を訳してみました。

I felt that it is totally different between when I directly speak with them and those on the mail.

訂正、別の言い方などお願いいたします。

As I expected I noticed an enormous difference between talking directly and communicating by emails.

はじめの　as I expected　は、「やはり」の訳のつもりなんですが、、、
