多分これでいいはずです。 普段ここまで完全には聞いてないのでいい練習になりました。 Well, I have tried for about a year and a half to get a documentary made on the book, and I came very close but all the options made me uncomfortable. I liked the film makers, but they were all attached one way or another to the big networks, and these networks all have the relationships with the fast food industry, even PBS. You know, McDonald's is a big sponsor of Sesami Street. And... so I didn't want to sign over the rights to my book, and see if film that was a sell out or a water down version of it. So I was fine with no film being made based on the book, and it was in this period that I met with this British producer Jeremy Thomas who had the idea of doing the fictional film based on a book, and I didn't really see how that would work, but I have a great respect for him. He works with some of the leading European directors and he is a real independent. So I met with Rick Linklater when I was in Austin Texas, we started talking about it. It was uh.. came about in unlikely serious of steps, and it wouldn't be the obvious idea necessarily, but I'm very proud of the film he made and it's interesting to me more independent and hard hitting film could be made... you know... as a fictional version then as a documentary the way that I was thinking about it first. And it still gets the message through when you watch the film. You know it's about the fast food industry but ultimately it's not. In the same way, the book isn't ultimately about fast food. It's about the system that we've created in this country that treats animals and workers and environment and consumers with a great deal of disrespect.
