「私は、中学生、高校生、大学の2年間、ラグビーをやってきた。ラグビーは私が最も注目しているスポーツです。そこで、私は研究対象として「ラグビー」を選んだ。
ラグビーは正式にはラグビーフットボール (Rugby football) と呼ばれる。2つのチームに分かれて行われ、楕円形のボールを奪い合って相手陣のインゴールまで運ぶ、あるいはH型のゴール上部に蹴り入れて得点を競うスポーツである。
しかし、日本ではラグビーはスポーツとしてあまり注目されておらず、マイナーなスポーツ言われることが多い。2019年には日本でラグビーワールドカップの開催も予定されている。そこで、ラグビーの歴史とワールドカップ、なぜ日本で注目されていないスポーツなのかを調べることを目的とした。
ラグビーが日本で注目されていない理由については、世界と日本代表のレベルに大きな差があることが原因であることがわかった。まず、ラグビーの歴史について述べていく。」

I played rugby when I was in junior and senior high school. I even played it for two years in college. So rugby is the sport that makes me curious all the time. So I've decided to work on rugby for my study.
Rugby is formally called "Rugby football." There are two sides (two teams) and and we use an oblong ball, and the objective is to put the ball into the opponent's goal or get points by kicking the ball over the H-shamed goal.
Yet, in Japan, rugby is not as popular as it should. People take it as a minor sport. In 2019, Japan will be hosting the Rugby World Cup. This might be as good a chance as any, so I have decided to study the history of rugby and world cups, along with the reasons why rugby is taken as a minor sports.
So far I have learned that rugby is not popular in Japan because Japanese rugby teams are not as strong as other counterparts.
To begin with, I'd like to talk about the history of rugby.
