英作なんですが、簡単な文で作りたいです。

質問

１０年ぶりに訪れたその町は以前とはすっかり変わっていた。

私が書いた解答はこれです。The town changes very much than these days, which I have visited before ten years.で模試の解答が私にはわかりづらかったので、中学生レベルの単語で書きたいのでお願いします。before ten yesrsは１０年ぶりにを書きたかったのですが・・・

The town I called at after ten yesrs 's interval was not what it had been at all.←ちなみに模試の模範解答はこれです。

受験英語での英作文では、ポイントがありますね。この問題文だと、「・・・ぶり」、「以前とは・・・だ」あたりでしょうか。

「・・年ぶり」の表現として覚えておくべきは（こういう表現は暗記するしかない）　after an interval of ... years, after ... years' interval (years'sはないですよ）が暗記すべき表現（内容によっては、interval　のかわりに absence や silence　も：
She wrote (to) me after three years' silence.　All of a sudden, he came back home after five years' absence.）

それからもう一つ、for the first time in ... years. 会話調では　interval　とか absence　はあまり使わないので、この表現覚えておくと便利です。Yesterday, I met Yuki for the first time in almost five years!　のように。

で、問題文ですが、「10年ぶりに訪れたその町」は、 The town I called at (「訪れた」というより「立ち寄った」のイメージ）after an interval of ten years / The town I visited for the first in ten years　くらいですね。

「すっかり変わっていた」は　... be much different from ... , ... be quite different from ..., が普通にでてくる表現。 Tokyo University today is much different from it was twenty years ago. のような使い方。

「以前」before がすぐわかる単語。

上の三つをあわせて、The town I visited after an interval of ten years was quite different from what it was before.

あたりが「中学レベル」の英文になるのでは。

「高校レベル」だと、be not what ...のような表現もできるので、これで「以前と比べて」とどうような意味合いがだせます。 Yuki is not what she was like (before). Things are quite different from what they used to be.　のような使い方。at all　も「まったく・・・だ/でない」のように使えます。She didn't want to go karaoke at all!

それ以上のレベル（？）だと、上記はこの話者の感想・考察であろうから、 The town I visited for the first time in ten years turned out (to be) quite different from what it had been. I found the town I visited after to years' absence quite different from .... なども。

貴英文を出来るだけ活かしての英文は、

The town I visted has changed very much from what it was ten years ago. が、「・・年ぶり」が訳出されてないので、減点になるでしょう。しかし「・・・ぶり」がわからなかったら、こんな「処置」で「出血をできるだけおさえる」こともテクニックでは。

若い貴君が今後より英語力をつけるためのアドバイスを：　まず、（１）中学レベルの基本的な短文をたくさん暗記（声に出して、書いて）、そして（２）高校レベルの基本的な短文を暗記、を進めます。中学レベルといってもばかに出来ません。英検1級合格者でも中学の英作文を誰もが満点取れなイですから・・・こと言葉ときたら、小学、中学、高校・・・なんてレベルないですから。

I visited the town for the first time in ten years, and it has completely changed.

これをひとつにまとめると：

The town I visited for the first time in ten years has completely changed.

10年ぶりに = for the first time in ten years = after ten years' interval
すっかり = completely
「以前とは」を入れるなら：
... has completely changed from what it used to be.とか
... has completely changed from what it was 10 years ago.
