[cultivated] for vs with
Seemingly, the phrase "cultivated _with_ sugar" is synonymous with the phrase "cultivated _for_ sugar". EXAMPLE: Hence it is obvious, that the profit on such part of these lands as may be cultivated _with_ sugar, cannot be estimated separately from the profit on the whole collectively. https://books.google.co.jp/books?id=mbldM56GbYYC On Google: "cultivated with corn|potatoes|crops|rice|barley|tomatoes|vegetables|sugarcane|lettuce|beans|sunflower|papaya|maize|wheat |cranberries|kiwifruit|blackberry|citrus|sugar|cabbage|green tea|legumes|cassava" 約 18,300 件 "cultivated for corn|potatoes|crops|rice|barley|tomatoes|vegetables|sugarcane|lettuce|beans|sunflower|papaya|maize|wheat |cranberries|kiwifruit|blackberry|citrus|sugar|cabbage|green tea|legumes|cassava" 約 26,100 件 QUESTION: Do you think the "cultivated with" version is a legitimate English expression in this case? If your answer is YES, may I hear your view regarding the rationale for the use of the preposition "with"? Thank you for your attention.
