I would use the word "heartbreaking". http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=ZEG&q=%22song+is+heartbreaking%22&aq=f&aql=&aqi=&oq= http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=5ta&q=%22song+is+painfully+sad%22&aq=f&aql=&aqi=&oq=

I think 'painfully sad' (without an article) in you sentence is okay, sorry.

Thank you for your answer again !! you didn't need say " sorry" any longer ! Thank you for your time and effort !
Possibly, but 'painful' could mean 'hard to listen because it's bad'. How about 'this song touches my heart' 'sympathetic' etc, or 'it's about a painful love story'.

Thank you so much for answering my question !! oh, I'm little bit surprised that the word painful can mean " hard to listen because it's bad ". oh , it seems negative expression !! I should have written like that. If I say , "this song tocuhed or (touches) my heart" (私を感動させる), I think it may not be what I have tried to say.. Additional details. I looked up the wrod" setunai" in a dictionary . I have done before asking you. 切ない(悲しさ・寂しさなどで、胸が締め付けられるような気持ちだ。) 感傷(物に感じて心をいためること) From a Japanese dictionarly. Anyway, ,tahnk you for your answer !!
