質問

Our child is getting married soon. A relative uses a service dog for a physiological disorder. The dog has not been trained by a licensed organization. Rather, the relative trained the dog herself. Unfortunately, he's not completely well behaved in public. He barks out of turn and grooms himself inappropriately.

herselfはby herselfと言うのとはどう違うのでしょうか？あと、grooms himself inappropriatelyの意味も教えてください。よろしくお願いします

最初のherselfは再帰代名詞として強調のために使われています。なくても意味は変わらないですが彼女自身で訓練したこと(誰かに頼んだんじゃなくて)が明確になり強調されます。by herselfでも同じようなものですがより彼女一人で彼女の意思、努力でやったことが強調されると思います。

(突然吠えたかと思うと)無作法に自分自身を舐め回して毛づくろいをする。

その前のout of turnが時と場をわきまえずにと言う意味なので、それと対で上のように訳すのが良いと思います。

　herselfは、「自分を」で対象が自分であること、by herself　は、「自分で」で、人の手を借りないで、と言う違いでしょう。

２。あと、grooms himself inappropriatelyの意味も教えてください。

　彼自身を、正しくないやり方でお化粧する　例えば、来客の前でま自分の睾丸を舐めて、掃除する、などでしょう。
