日本の文化 歌舞伎について

質問

私は東京で日本語学校にいっているアメリカ人です。
いま日本語のクラスの宿題で歌舞伎について　が（？）あります。
誰か私の宿題を助けてくれませんか？英語で答えることが出来る人がいたらもっと嬉しいですが
日本語でも大丈夫です。

宜しくお願いします。

I am now working on school assignment about Kabuki. Does anyone mind answering this question for my japanese class? It's due Tomorrow so if you have time and can do it , that's be awesome.

1. The story and background were taken from Japanese history. There was no written language for recording stories, most of tales were told by story tellers and sang with instruments. Kabuki is one of dramatised version with stage play.

2. Just because we respect traditional culture before open the country and got westernised. Japan has longest royal family in the world in the same way.

3. I have never been to see Kabuki play. Never been interested to squeeze living expense for supporting cultural event I don't even like. It is like watching Italian opera and we do need subtitle with it. If we know the language it may be more fun.

１．日本の歴史から題材を取っているからです。当時は書き残す記録の方法がなかったので、逸話は話し手か歌い手が楽器を抱えて歌って伝えました。歌舞伎はそこから発祥した派手目の見せ物です。

２．日本人は本来開国して西洋化が来るまでの伝統をきちんと守っています。皇室も同様に残しています。

３．個人的には歌舞伎を見た事はありません。生活費を削ってまで伝統芸能を支援する趣味もありません。イタリアのオペラもそうですが、字幕があれば見ていても話が分かって面白いかも。

I didn't know that the story was taken from Japanese history. I am not familiar with Japanese and cultural things much so I realized I need to learn more..

歌舞伎は　日本人の特に若い人からは人気は全くないと思います。
現に　私も今まで実際劇場で見たことありません。
なぜ不人気なのかの理由を考えてみると
１、難しい。（背景などを勉強しないと、意味が日本人でもわからない）
２、その難しさがわかる人だけでいい、みたいな差別の雰囲気がある。
３、見に行くのが　お年寄りや外国人ばかりで、若い人は近寄りづらい。
があります。
個人的には、よく勉強すれば面白いのかもしれませんが、相撲と同じように、無くても全く気にならない
どうでもいい伝統です。

I guess (I'm sure) tt KABUKI is not popular art among especially young Japanese people. I have no experience to have watched KABUKI in KABUKI theater, too.
As for foreigner, KABUKI's funny appearance seems to be fresh & interesting.

When I analyse why it's not popular among young Japanese, it is as follows
1, difficlut to understand (Unless we study KABUKI's background, cannot understand whole story even if Japanese people)
2, There seems to be some discrimination tt KABUKI is supported by only the person who understand its story.
I mean the person understanding KABUKI's value has some noble image only by themselves and the person who has few interest against KABUKI has negative image agaist such person who pretend to be noble.
3, It is thought tt KABUKI is for old person's hobby, and sightseeing place for foreigner. So young people hesitate to visit.

Personlally, if I have enough time to study KABUKI, it will be interesting.
But now, KABUKI is similar for SUMOU wrestling. It is OK if it survive under the name of tradition, but I don'T care in my daily life.

Thanks for your explanation by English! yep, I totally agree with you that you can not understand the whole story unless you study the background and special term that can be used in Kabuki.
I had no idea what has happening while I watching it....
