ネットワークを行う他のアプリを確認するには？

VistaHomePremiumでエアエッジを使用してインターネットをしているのですが、通信速度が遅いため、
バックグラウンドでネットワーク通信を行っているアプリケーションを不要時に止めておきたいと考えています。
ネットワーク通信を行っているアプリケーションやその通信量を確認するにはどうすればいいでしょうか？

Vistaは持ってないが,
XPにはnetstatというコマンドがある
