英訳

質問

以下の文の英訳をしたいのですが、うまくできません。一部や、意訳でも良いので、手助けをお願いします。

「私にとって、大学受験で第一志望の大学に落ちたことが、大きな挫折でした。合格した大学もあり、もう１年間勉強をするか、進学するかで、とても悩みました。しかしやはり、第一志望の大学に行き、目標にしていた環境で化学について学びたいという気持ちが強かったので、両親を説得し、予備校には通わず、自分の力でもう１年間勉強するという決断をしました。そして努力の結果、１年後、第一志望の大学に合格することができました。もしもそのまま進学していたならば、どこかで後悔の気持ちが残っていたと思います。なによりも、１年間努力をし、成果を出すことができたのが、自分にとって、大きな自信になっています。振り返ってみて、自分の人生にとって、とても意味のある選択だったと思います。」

To me, it was a big setback that I failed to pass the examination for the first choice. But at the same time I was accepted another school so that I had a hard time to decide which path I　should take. I was torn between going to the university that I was not so happy with and continuing to study for another year to challenge the university I would like to go. In nut shell, I　decided to go for the first choice, persuaded my parents and made up my mind to study for one more year. As the result of my effort I put in, I　was able to get in to the first choice. If I had chosen to go onto the second choice, I would have been be regretted for it. Above all, after putting a lot of energies and efforts for a year, I was able to get the result. That was my source of big confidence. Looking back of it, it was a meaningful decision for my life.
